Status and effectiveness

Every measure moves through a simple three-status workflow. Combine the status with a progress percentage to show exactly how far along each measure is and how much risk reduction it delivers right now.

Three-status workflow

Each measure sits in one of three statuses. Move a measure forward as work progresses from planning through implementation to completion.

Not started

The measure is defined but work has not begun. Progress is typically 0%.

In progress

Active work is underway. Update the progress percentage as work advances.

Complete

The measure has been fully implemented and verified. Progress is 100%.

Progress percentage tracking

Use the progress slider to indicate completion percentage. This gives you a more granular view than status alone and helps identify measures that may be stalling.

Status vs progress

Status indicates the workflow stage (Not started, In progress, Complete). Progress shows how much of the work is done (0 to 100%). A measure can be "In progress" at 25% or 90%. When calculating risk reduction, the expected effectiveness is scaled by the progress percentage.

Effectiveness scaling with progress

Expected effectiveness tells the system how much a fully completed measure reduces the risk. As work progresses, the actual risk reduction scales proportionally.

How effectiveness works

1

Set expected effectiveness when creating the measure (for example, 30% reduction).

2

Effectiveness scales with progress. A measure with 30% effectiveness at 50% completion contributes a 15% reduction.

3

Risk scores update automatically as measures progress, showing current versus target risk levels.

4

Multiple measures combine to show cumulative risk reduction on each pathway.

Reminder dates

Set a reminder date on any measure to trigger a notification for the owner. Reminders work well for long-running measures where you need periodic check-ins before the due date arrives.

When to use reminders

Set a reminder two weeks before the due date for measures that take longer than a month to complete. For shorter measures, the due date itself provides enough urgency. Overdue measures are flagged automatically in the Action Register regardless of reminder settings.
