Overview and navigation
Risk Companion organises your risk management work into projects, registers, and dashboards. This page shows you where everything lives and how to move around the app.
Sidebar navigation
The main sidebar is your primary way to move between sections. It contains these items:
- Dashboards (dropdown) – Summary, Focus, Project, Measures, and Compliance views
- Projects – Create and manage risk projects
- Risk Register – View and manage all identified risks
- Action Register – Track measures and tasks
- Assigned Risks / Actions – Quick access to items you own (appears when you have assignments)
- Administration – User management and system settings (admin only)
Projects
Projects are the core organising unit. Each project holds its own risks, measures, and team permissions. Click Projects in the sidebar to see every project you can access.
For full details on creating and configuring projects, see Creating and managing projects.
Risk and action registers
Risk register
Click Risk Register in the sidebar to view all identified risks across your projects. You can filter by project, status, owner, or risk level. Click any risk to see its full details, assessment history, and linked measures.
Action register
Click Action Register in the sidebar to manage measures and tasks. Track due dates, assignees, and completion progress. Link measures to specific risks for traceability.
Every high or critical risk should have at least one linked measure with a clear owner and due date.
Dashboards
Click Dashboards in the sidebar to open the dropdown. Risk Companion provides five views:
Summary
High-level overview across all projects. Total risk counts, status distribution, and key metrics.
Focus
Risks that need attention now: overdue reviews, high-priority items, and approaching thresholds.
Project
Single-project view with risk matrix, timeline charts, and project-specific metrics.
Measures
Progress of risk treatments. Completion rates, overdue actions, and resource allocation.
Compliance
Compliance-related risks and measures. Audit findings, regulatory requirements, and framework status.
Use the Focus Dashboard as your daily starting point. It surfaces what needs your attention right now.
Administration
Click Administration in the sidebar to access system-wide settings. This section requires admin permissions and covers user management, organisation defaults, and framework configuration.
For a breakdown of what each role can do, see Roles and permissions.
